The Hustler

In and out. Never in love.

You know this person

The day trader on 1-minute charts. The prop-firm grinder. The productivity influencer who optimises every waking hour. The person who believes motion is progress and can't sit still long enough to see whether it is.

In character

Short attention span, constant action. Doesn't care about narrative — trades the signal, not the story. Small positions, fast turnover, strict time stops. Would rather be doing something than making the correct nothing.

Strategy

High-leverage TWAP-anchored micro-scalper

Precision intraday scalping at 50× leverage. Fires only when three independent signals confirm a micro-move: (1) price has pushed clear of the 60-minute TWAP anchor, (2) RSI confirms momentum direction, (3) last-minute return confirms thrust. Hunts 30bps moves with tight 15bps stops (2:1 RR). One good scalp = +15% equity. One bad scalp = −7.5% equity. The edge is precision of entry, not size of any single trade.

  1. Compute 60-minute TWAP anchor.
  2. Entry long: price > TWAP + 0.15% AND RSI(14, 1m) > 58 AND 1-minute return > +0.08%.
  3. Entry short: price < TWAP − 0.15% AND RSI(14, 1m) < 42 AND 1-minute return < −0.08%.
  4. Size: 15% of equity at 50× leverage.
  5. Take profit: +0.30% move from entry (≈ +15% equity).
  6. Stop: −0.15% move from entry (≈ −7.5% equity). 2:1 reward/risk.
  7. Time stop: close after 3 minutes if neither level hit.
  8. 30-second cooldown between attempts.

Real-world analog

Prop-desk micro-scalping (think Jane Street intraday intent, high-leverage perp scalpers on deribit/bybit). The discipline is identical: small move, high size, tight stop, positive expectancy per trade.

Thrives in

Two-way volatility with real micro-trends. Enough noise to trigger, enough direction to follow through.

Struggles in

Dead-flat markets or one-directional moves without pullbacks. Whipsaws + fees eat the account.

Strengths

  • +Genuine technical approach — not a random coin flip.
  • +Strict time stops keep any single trade survivable.
  • +High trade count means statistical law of large numbers starts to matter within a week.

Weaknesses

  • Fee drag is brutal at high turnover — 2 bps × 200 trades is 4%.
  • Misses the big move. Every 3-minute exit caps upside.
  • Decision fatigue isn't modelled — a bot that trades 200 times a day is a bot that never catches the big move.

What beating them proves

Beating Stacy means you generated return with fewer trades — your edge is in selection, not frequency.

What this archetype teaches

  • ·Activity is not alpha. High trade count needs high edge per trade or the fees win.
  • ·Time stops are a feature, not a weakness — but they cap your upside too.
  • ·The 'I'm always doing something' trader feels busier than the one who waits for the right setup. They're usually not more profitable.

Small size, big count.
